The AI Interview Experience: What Inventors See

See what inventors experience during a voice or text AI interview and how to navigate the interview room

Written by Jonathan Liu

The AI interview is a guided conversation between an inventor and ArcPrime's AI assistant. This article describes what inventors experience from the moment they click the interview link through completion, so you can prepare inventors and answer their questions.

Key Capabilities

  • Voice and text modes -- Inventors choose whether to speak naturally or type their responses. Both modes follow the same structured conversation.

  • Guided flow -- The AI asks targeted questions about the technical problem, proposed solution, how the invention differs from existing approaches, and commercial context.

  • File attachments -- After the interview, inventors can upload supporting documents such as diagrams, specifications, or presentations.

  • Resume capability -- If an inventor's session is interrupted, they can return to the same link and choose to continue from where they left off or start over.

  • Referral collection -- When enabled, the AI asks the inventor if they know colleagues who might also have patentable ideas.

How It Works

An inventor receives an email with a unique interview link. Clicking the link opens the interview room in their browser. The inventor selects voice or text mode and begins the conversation.

In voice mode, the AI assistant speaks questions aloud. The inventor responds by speaking naturally. A live transcript appears in a sidebar panel. Controls allow the inventor to mute, pause, or end the interview at any time.

In text mode, the conversation appears as a chat. The inventor types responses and the AI replies with follow-up questions.

After the conversation concludes, the inventor reaches a completion screen where they can upload supporting files. ArcPrime then processes the interview transcript and extracts structured ideas for counsel review on the Idea Triage Board.

Common Use Cases

Use Case

How ArcPrime Helps

Inventor is unfamiliar with patent forms

The AI guides a natural conversation instead of requiring form completion

Remote inventor teams

Interviews can be completed from any browser, no software installation needed

Capturing nuance

Voice interviews capture context and detail that inventors might skip on a written form

Documenting the interview

ArcPrime stores the full transcript for counsel to review later

Getting Started

Inventors do not need to do anything to prepare. When you create a campaign and add inventors, ArcPrime handles the outreach. To review what ideas were extracted from interviews, see Reviewing Interview Results.
