How to Use the Filing Score

This article explains how to read the filing score ArcPrime computes for every invention disclosure and how to tune the weights behind it.

Prerequisites

  • To change the weights, you need permission to update disclosure settings.

Steps

Reading the Score on the List

  1. Open Disclosures > List from the sidebar.

  2. The Filing Score column shows each disclosure's score as a colored pill: green for Strong, orange for Mixed, red for Weak. A dash means the score is still pending.

  3. Hover over a pill to see the score and its band. If the column is hidden, click Display and check Filing Score.

Reading the Full Recommendation

  1. Open the disclosure and, in the correspondence panel, open the AI tab.

  2. Click Filing Recommendation. The panel opens with Recommendation: followed by the band and the score out of 100.

  3. Read the Summary, then the Top Strength and Top Blocker cards for the single most important point on each side.

  4. Under Evaluation Axes, review each axis, its score, and the reasoning below the bar:

    • Patentability -- Novelty based on the prior art search and how many claim elements are already taught.

    • Detectability -- How visibly infringement could be spotted in the market.

    • Taxonomy Fit -- How well the disclosure aligns with your business and your taxonomy gaps.

    • Competitive Value -- How closely the disclosure reads on named competitors.

    • Prosecution Outlook -- Expected difficulty in the predicted art unit.

  5. An axis marked pending is waiting on its underlying analysis, such as the prior art search. The score updates when that analysis finishes.

  6. Click Print to PDF to share the recommendation outside ArcPrime.

ArcPrime computes the score automatically after submission and emails inhouse counsel when it is ready. The score is frozen once counsel approves or rejects the disclosure.

Adjusting the Weights

  1. Open Settings from the sidebar and select AI Recommendations > Filing.

  2. Each axis card shows its Weight and explains what a higher or lower weight favors. Use the stepper to change it. The default weights are 30, 25, 20, 15, and 10 in the order above.

  3. Click Add Custom Factor to score something specific to your organization. Enter a Title, a Description of what the factor measures, and a Weight, then click Add Factor.

  4. Watch the Total: indicator; weights must add up to 100 before you can save.

  5. Click Save, or Reset to default to return to the standard weights.

Note: The recommendation is AI-generated guidance. Use it to prioritize review, and rely on counsel judgment and the committee vote for the filing decision.
