Competitive Landscape: Understand Your Position Against Competitors

Benchmark your patent portfolio against competitors using ArcPrime's competitive landscape analysis and trend tracking

Written by Jonathan Liu

The Competitive Landscape (Watch List) shows how your patent portfolio compares to competitor companies across key metrics. Use it to identify competitive gaps, monitor filing trends, and inform enforcement strategy.

πŸ“· The Watch List tab under Patents > Strategy, showing the competitor comparison bar chart with companies along the x-axis and claim chart counts on the y-axis, with a table view toggle available

Key Capabilities

  • Competitor comparison chart β€” A bar chart compares your company against tracked competitors by claim charts, US patent count, or quality score.

  • Table view with detailed metrics β€” Switch to a table view to see granular data for each competitor, including patent counts by taxonomy area.

  • Company and product drill-down β€” Click any competitor to see their patent portfolio, products, revenue estimates, and claim chart coverage.

  • Multiple comparison metrics β€” Toggle between Charts, US Patents, and Quality Score to evaluate competitors from different angles.

How It Works

Open Patents > Strategy and select the Watch List tab. ArcPrime displays a bar chart comparing your company to each tracked competitor. Use the metric selector at the top to switch between Charts, US Patents, and Quality Score.

Click the Table toggle to see a tabular breakdown with columns for each taxonomy area. Click any company name or row to drill into that company's detail page, which lists their products, claim charts, and technology coverage.

You can filter by taxonomy to focus the comparison on a specific technology area.
