The Watch List shows how your patent portfolio compares with tracked competitors by technology. Use it to find competitive gaps, watch filing trends worldwide, and see where your claim charts give you the strongest position.
Key Capabilities
Two comparison metrics — Charts counts the claim charts your patents hold against each company. Patents counts each company's patent families.
Worldwide scope — Competitors roll up under their ultimate parent and include patents and applications in every jurisdiction. Choose Worldwide or one country, and toggle Issued and Pending.
Graph or table — Switch between a bar chart and a table with one column per company and one row per technology.
Portfolio drill-down — Click any company to open its portfolio: total patents, a taxonomy sunburst, and the patents themselves.
Trends — Open year-over-year filing lines for the selected companies and country.
Untracked companies — Include companies that deep research found charts against, even if you do not track them.
How It Works
Open Patents > Intelligence > Watch List. Select Charts or Patents, then adjust the toggles beside it. Use the Companies filter to choose which competitors appear, and the Technology: selector above the chart to focus on one area.
The graph plots the count along a technology axis, with a bar per selected company and the companies named in the legend. A Total column sums each company's count across technologies.
Click a bar or table cell. In the Charts metric this opens the company's detail page with products and charts. In the Patents metric it opens the company's portfolio drawer, and clicking your own company opens yours for a side-by-side comparison.
Tracked competitors are configured with ArcPrime during onboarding; see how competitors get onto the Watch List.
