Units are the compute currency that powers AI features in ArcPrime. Each time you run an AI-powered action, ArcPrime deducts units from your workspace balance. Actions include prior art searches, OA response recommendations, and continuation recommendations. This article explains what units are, which features consume them, and how your balance works.

Key Capabilities
Transparent usage tracking β Every unit-consuming action is logged with the case name, task type, units spent, and date. You can view the full history at any time.
Balance visibility β Your current unit balance is displayed on the Units settings page. The balance indicator changes color based on your remaining units: green when healthy, orange when low, and red when depleted.
Per-task linking β Each transaction in the usage history links directly to the task result (the prior art report, OA recommendation, or deep research output) so you can trace what was generated.
How It Works
Your workspace starts with a unit allocation based on your subscription plan. As your team runs AI-powered features, units are deducted from the balance. The following features consume units:
Feature | What It Does |
Prior Art Search | Searches for relevant references and maps them to your disclosure elements |
OA Response Recommendation | Analyzes office action rejections and suggests response strategies and amendments |
Deep Research | Runs in-depth competitive analysis or infringement assessments against specific products or companies |
Continuation Recommendation | Identifies coverage gaps and recommends continuations to strengthen enforceability |
Draft Proofread | Checks patent application drafts for missing elements and inconsistencies |
Each feature consumes a different number of units depending on the complexity of the analysis. The exact cost is recorded in your usage history after each action completes.
Manual adjustments and refunds may also appear in your transaction history. These are applied by ArcPrime support when corrections are needed.
