How to Set CON Score and Filing Recommendation Weights

This article explains how to weight the factors behind ArcPrime's continuation recommendation (CON) score and filing recommendation score.

Prerequisites

  • You have permission to run continuation recommendations to edit the CON score weights.

  • You have disclosure settings permission to edit the filing recommendation weights.

Understanding the Scores

Every continuation recommendation carries a CON Score out of 100 with a Recommendation pill of Strong, Mixed, or Weak. The score breaks down across three axes shown under Evaluation Axes for Recommended Concept.

Filing recommendations score disclosures the same way, using five factors. You decide how much each factor counts.

Steps

Set CON Score Weights

  1. Open Settings from the sidebar.

  2. Under AI Recommendations, select Continuation. The page is titled CON Recommendation Settings.

  3. Adjust the Weight on each factor card. Each card explains what a higher or lower weight favors:

    • Coverage Added (default 45) — How much of the invention the claim covers that the family does not already.

    • Market Coverage (default 30) — How strongly the recommended claim reads on third-party products today.

    • Taxonomy Fit (default 25) — How well the claim protects the products you ship.

  4. Change a weight and a footer appears with the running Total. Save stays disabled until the weights add up to 100.

  5. Confirm the footer reads 100 / 100 and click Save.

Set Filing Recommendation Weights

  1. Under AI Recommendations, select Filing. The page is titled Filing Recommendation Settings.

  2. Adjust the Weight on each factor: Patentability (default 30), Detectability (25), Taxonomy Fit (20), Competitive Value (15), and Prosecution Outlook (10).

  3. Confirm the footer's Total reads 100 / 100 and click Save.

Add a Custom Factor

Custom factors let you score on something specific to your business, such as alignment with a product roadmap. ArcPrime scores them from your description.

  1. Click Add Custom Factor on either page.

  2. Enter a Title, a Description of what the factor measures, and a Weight.

  3. Save the factor. It appears under Custom Factors, and the built-in factors move under General Factors.

  4. Lower other weights so the footer's Total still reads 100 / 100, then click Save.

Restore the Defaults

  1. Click Reset to defaults. Custom factors are removed and the built-in weights return.

  2. Click Save.

Note: New weights apply to recommendations generated after you save. Review the score breakdown on each recommendation before deciding whether to file.
