Claim Charts: Map Your Patents to Competitor Products

Learn how ArcPrime generates patent claim charts and how they support licensing and enforcement strategy

Written by Jonathan Liu

Claim Charts in ArcPrime show how your patents map to competitor products, giving you a clear picture of claim coverage and enforcement potential. Use Claim Charts to identify your strongest patents, spot coverage gaps, and prioritize deep research efforts.

πŸ“· The Charts tab under Patents > Strategy, showing the taxonomy tree on the left and the claim charts detail panel on the right with chart counts and fidelity levels

Key Capabilities

  • Taxonomy-organized view β€” Browse claim charts organized by your taxonomy divisions and technologies. See chart counts for each technology area.

  • Fidelity scoring β€” Each chart is scored as high, medium, or low fidelity, indicating how closely your patent claims map to the competitor product.

  • Company-level aggregation β€” View claim charts grouped by competitor company to understand your strongest positions.

  • Deep research integration β€” Launch deep research directly from claim charts to generate detailed claim mappings.

How It Works

Open Patents > Strategy and select the Charts tab. The left panel displays your taxonomy hierarchy with claim chart counts next to each node. Select a taxonomy node to see the charts mapped to that technology area.

The right panel shows the chart details, including which companies and products are mapped, fidelity levels, and patent information. Charts with higher fidelity represent stronger potential assertion positions.

Fidelity levels are color-coded throughout the interface. High-fidelity charts indicate strong element-by-element mappings between your claims and a competitor's product. Medium-fidelity charts show partial mappings. Low-fidelity charts suggest a potential relationship worth investigating further.

You can filter by company to focus on a specific competitor, or view all companies at once to see the full breadth of your chart coverage.
