How to Screen Your Portfolio Against a Product Document

This article explains how to upload a product document to the library and screen your portfolio for patents that read on it.

Step 1: Upload the Document to the Library

  1. Open Settings and select Library under Workflows & Automation.

  2. Click New Folder, enter a name in the Add New Folder dialog, and click Add Folder.

  3. Open the folder and click Add Documents to upload the product manual, datasheet, or other document.

Step 2: Run the Analysis

  1. Open the project from Patents > Intelligence > Screening and click Add Patents.

  2. Under Target Products From, open Library and tick one or more folders. Each folder's chip appears as you tick it, and every document in a selected folder is used.

  3. Optionally select a Company too. In a combined analysis, web research on the company informs the document analysis. A document that lacks context is then read in light of the company's products.

  4. Optionally add Custom instructions, such as which chapters or product to prioritize.

  5. Click Next: Source, keep My portfolio or paste patent numbers, and click Run Analysis.

Step 3: Review the Results

  1. The wizard first reports that it is extracting products from your library documents, then scores the patents. You can close it; ArcPrime emails you when results are ready.

  2. Set the Minimum Likelihood of Infringement and click Add N patents to project.

  3. In the Patent List tab, expand a patent row to read the product matches and the reasoning. Citations in the reasoning open the source passage of your document in a side panel.

The scores and reasoning are AI-generated. Read the cited passages and confirm each mapping before relying on it.

Note: A library target screens your own patents or a pasted list. To screen another company's patents, use a company target instead.
