Prerequisites
You have permission to add patents in your workspace.
You have the application, publication, or patent numbers for the records you want to add.
Steps
Open Patents > Portfolio > List from the navigation bar.
Click Add Patent at the top of the list. The Add Patent drawer opens.
Enter one number per line in the text area. ArcPrime accepts application, publication, and patent numbers from any jurisdiction, including US reissue numbers.
To create a single record by hand instead, click Enter Manually (To Add Just One Patent) and skip to step 6.
Click Next. ArcPrime looks up each number and shows a progress bar while it fetches details. Keep the window open.
If a number is already in your portfolio, ArcPrime tells you the case already exists.
If a number cannot be matched, ArcPrime opens an empty form so you can complete it yourself.
Review the list of patents on the left. Each shows Completed, In progress, or Pending. Click a completed patent to open its form.
Check the pre-filled fields and complete any that are missing: Country, Case Type, Title, Status, dates, numbers, Inventor(s), Inhouse Counsel, and Outside Counsel. Add priority information under Domestic Benefit or Foreign Priority if needed.
Decide whether to include family members. Turn on Include other cases in family to add the full worldwide family of each patent. Leave it off to add only the patents you entered.
Click Next to move to the next patent, or Add Patent (or Add Patents) to save everything. The new records appear in the patent list.
Note: Leave Internal ID blank to have ArcPrime assign the next docket number automatically. Docket number formats are managed by an administrator in Settings > Workspace Data > Docket Numbers.
