How do I import patents into ArcPrime?

Open Settings > Data Import and upload a CSV file containing your patent data. ArcPrime maps your columns to its data fields and shows a preview before importing. You can also add patents one at a time by clicking Add Patent from the patent list.

What format does the import file need to be?

ArcPrime accepts CSV files. The import wizard walks you through mapping your columns to ArcPrime fields β€” you do not need to reformat your data before uploading. Common fields like title, application number, filing date, assignee, and status are detected automatically.

Can I import patent families?

Yes. ArcPrime recognizes family relationships during import. If your CSV includes family identifiers or application numbers that share a common priority, ArcPrime groups them into families automatically. You can also link patents into families manually from the patent detail view.

How do I perform bulk operations on my portfolio?

Select multiple patent families from the patent list using the checkboxes, then click Bulk Edit. You can update status, labels, category, outside counsel assignments, or dates across all selected families in a single operation. See how to bulk edit patents for step-by-step instructions.

Can I export my patent data?

Yes. Apply any filters you need from the patent list, then click Export. ArcPrime generates a CSV file containing the filtered data with all visible columns. The export downloads to your browser immediately.

How are patent families organized?

Each patent family groups related filings β€” continuations, divisionals, and foreign counterparts β€” under a single family record. The patent list displays one row per family. Click any family to expand it and see all individual filings within it.

Can I add custom fields or labels to patents?

Yes. ArcPrime supports custom labels that you can apply to any patent or family. Use labels to tag patents by business unit, product line, technology area, or any other dimension your team needs. You can filter and sort by labels from the patent list.

How do I track patent status changes?

ArcPrime auto-detects status changes from email traffic and updates patent records accordingly. You can also update status manually from the patent detail view. All status changes are logged in the patent's activity history with timestamps.
