This guide shows patent attorneys where their assigned work lives in ArcPrime. You will learn to open a patent, work an office action response, run a prior art search, and review a draft.
Before You Begin
Confirm your access with your workspace administrator. Office action analysis depends on your permissions.
Read Navigating the Interface so you know where the main features sit.
Step 1: Check Your Tasks
Click Dashboard in the navigation bar. The page is headed Tasks and groups work by status.
Click Filter, then select your name under Inhouse Counsel to narrow the view to your work. Click Display to change Grouping, Sort, and which columns appear.
Step 2: Open a Patent
Hover over Patents and select List, then click a patent to open it. The sidebar offers Patent Info, Correspondence, and Audit Log.
Patent Info holds the case fields plus the AI Summary, Strategy, Claims, and Description sections. Correspondence holds emails, attachments, notes, and generated reports.
Step 3: Work an Office Action Response
Open the patent and click Correspondence in the sidebar. Select the OA Response Recommendation entry for the office action you are answering.
If no analysis exists yet, click Generate Response and confirm in the dialog that appears. ArcPrime then builds the analysis for that document.
The page sidebar groups the result into Response, Global Analysis, and Per-Objection Analysis. Global Analysis covers OA Summary, Read OA, Understand Application, Claim Landscape, Family Landscape, and Understand References.
Work through each objection and the strategies ArcPrime suggests for it. Edit the draft under Final Response and apply your own judgment before you file.
Note: Generating a response consumes units. The response editor needs a desktop screen; on smaller screens you can read the summary but not edit or comment.
Step 4: Run a Prior Art Search
Open Disclosures > List and select an invention disclosure. Open its Prior Art Search entry to review the references ArcPrime identified and how they map to the disclosure.
Review the results and decide whether further manual searching is warranted.
Step 5: Review a Draft
Open the same disclosure and select its Draft Proofreading entry. ArcPrime highlights missing elements and inconsistencies in the draft.
Decide which flagged items to address. Draft proofreading supports your review; it does not replace it.
